GLP - 2 (GLP+GIP) Medications

GLP-2 Brief Overview

GLP-2 medications (GLP/GIP)  are formulated to aid in weight management and enhance metabolic health. This dual-action therapy activates both glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptors, providing a well-rounded approach to supporting weight loss and improving blood sugar regulation.

Clinically Proven Appetite Control

GLP-2 (GLP-1/GIP) medications help suppress appetite and reduce food cravings, making it easier to achieve and maintain a healthy weight.

Evidence-Based Weight Loss Support

GLP-2 therapies have shown impressive results in clinical trials, with some patients losing up to 22.5% of their body weight within 6 to 8 weeks—demonstrating their effectiveness as a weight loss solution.

Metabolic Health Enhancement

These medications support overall metabolic health by improving insulin sensitivity, lowering blood sugar levels, and reducing the risk of conditions commonly linked to obesity, such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease.

Improved Daily Function and Energy

Achieving a healthier weight with GLP-2 can alleviate symptoms like fatigue, joint pain, and limited mobility, while also enhancing energy levels and overall quality of life.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Does Revive Medical Ensure Compliance When Compounding GLP-2 (GLP/GIP)?

Revive Medical collaborates with pharmacies that fully comply with Section 503A/503B of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. This compliance allows for the compounding of medications like GLP-2 (GLP/GIP) when specific formulations are required—whether they are not commercially available, therapeutically different, or unable to meet the patient's unique needs. These compounded medications may address a variety of patient requirements, such as customized dosing, alternative delivery methods, or sensitivities to standard ingredients.

Are GLP-2 (GLP/GIP) Medications Safe to Use? What Are the Possible Side Effects?

GLP-2 (GLP/GIP) medications are generally safe when used as prescribed and under the supervision of a healthcare provider. Like any medication, however, they can cause side effects. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. These side effects are usually mild and temporary. In rare cases, more serious issues like severe stomach or kidney problems may occur.

It is important to discuss the potential risks and benefits of GLP-2 (GLP/GIP) medications with your healthcare provider. Be sure to promptly report any side effects or concerns you may experience.

What is the Difference Between GLP-1 and GLP-2 (GLP/GIP) Medications?

Both GLP-1 and GLP-2 (GLP/GIP) medications are FDA-approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and supporting long-term weight management.

However, there are key differences:

  • GLP-1 medications are primarily designed to mimic the action of the GLP-1 hormone, which helps control blood sugar levels and support weight loss.
  • GLP-2 (GLP/GIP) medications take this a step further by also mimicking the action of glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), in addition to GLP-1. Research has shown that the combined effect of both GLP-1 and GIP in GLP-2 (GLP/GIP) medications is more effective for weight loss compared to GLP-1's alone.

*Compounded medications are not considered FDA approved, however the active ingredients in the compounded medications are the same medications that are FDA approved in their commercially available forms. All pharmacies used by Revive Medical are inspected, registered and compliant with FDA compounding requirements.

Who Can Benefit from GLP-2 (GLP/GIP) Medications?

  • Individuals with Type 2 Diabetes:
GLP-2 (GLP/GIP) medications work by targeting both GIP and GLP-1 receptors, helping improve glycemic control through enhanced insulin secretion and lowered blood sugar levels. This makes it an effective treatment for individuals seeking better management of type 2 diabetes.
  • Those Focused on Weight Management:
Clinical research has shown that GLP-2 (GLP/GIP) medications can aid in significant weight loss by suppressing appetite and reducing caloric intake, making them a beneficial option for individuals struggling with obesity or weight-related health conditions.
  • Individuals with Metabolic Syndrome:
By addressing hyperglycemia, insulin resistance, and excess weight simultaneously, GLP-2 (GLP/GIP) medications offer comprehensive metabolic support, helping individuals with metabolic syndrome improve their overall health.
  • Patients with Cardiovascular Risk Factors:
The combined benefits of improved blood sugar control and weight loss can reduce cardiovascular risk factors, offering significant advantages to individuals with type 2 diabetes, who are at a higher risk for heart disease.
  • Individuals Seeking Comprehensive Metabolic Support:
For those looking to manage multiple aspects of their metabolic health, including blood sugar control and weight management, GLP-2 (GLP/GIP) medications provide a multifaceted approach that can contribute to long-term wellness.
